Cheryl McLean

Cheryl McLean is a board-certified women’s nurse practitioner with over 35 years of experience in the care of women. Her vast experience includes caring for women throughout their life span, including teenage health issues, pregnancy, childbirth, general gynecology care, family planning, menopause, as well as care for the more mature woman. She believes in health promotion and disease prevention, and uses a holistic approach in caring for women.

Cheryl is an educator in many different roles. She strongly believes in patient education and the sense of empowerment it gives her patients.

She is a clinical preceptor for advance practice nurses from the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University. As adjunct faculty, she has volunteered her time and talents over the last 20 years providing care to women and children in Belize, and at the same time providing education to nursing students at Loyola.

Cheryl remains active in her community as an elected official over the last 18 years, and chairs the Health and Human Resource Committee. She has been influential in establishing a safety day for children, and has provided free bicycle helmets to the children in the community. She also has been an advocate to end domestic violence, as well as finding resources to help the senior citizens in her village.
